Clarkfield, Kuala Lumpur in joint tourism blitz

Filed under:

Air Asia’s fully booked KL-Genting Highlands tour is expected to further uphold the joint travel and trade deal between the Philippines and Malaysia as bona fide members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Tiotuico said the Air Asia management called on him to help them stir up interest about Malaysian destinations among Filipinos. In return, Malaysians will be encouraged to explore the Philippines with Clarkfield as jump-off point.

“Actually, you’ll see it as a boost to their inbound program since we’re trying to promote travel to Malaysia among Filipinos. But it’s really a give-and-take or two-way strategy wherein we can also push our destinations to the Malaysian market and the feedback is very good. Our inbound from Malaysia is catching up with the Korean market, which is currently on top of our list of arrivals,” beamed Tiotuico.

Selangor-based Air Asia only operates Boeing 737-300 on all its flights for fitness and cost value to maintain low fares and concentrate on high maintenance of its fleet. A Boeing 737-300 carries about 148 passengers in one class.

Attractively splashed in chili red on a white background, Air Asia zoomed into the Clarkfield’s runway a month ago and is already doing brisk business ever since.

In this route, Air Asia will offer an attractive travel package of US$188 (R10,195.24)– plus R1,065 Malaysia airport tax/fees and R1,620 Philippine travel tax — from May 26 to 29, based on twin sharing. Single occupancy or solo travelers will be charged US$228 (R15,618.24) per person.
