The end of a pine romance

Filed under:

* JOHN Marshall never dreamed of a life in business.
Born in Sedgefield in 1956, he left school at 16 for agricultural college – with the aim of becoming a vet.
Failing to gain the qualifications, he first settled for agriculture, working as a farm labourer and shepherd and gaining qualifications in animal husbandry, farm management and horticulture.
In 1979, he became head gardener at Grey College, Durham, but a year later left to sell vacuum cleaners before opening a second-hand shop that would lead to Durham Pine.
A keen athlete, he has competed against top names such as Steve Cram. He took up cycling in 1993, won a tour of the Durham Hills in 1996 and was fifth in the National Veterans’ Race the same year.

* DURHAM Pine hit the headlines for all the right reasons in August 2003, when boss John Marshall paid for a week’s vacation in Mallorca for his 100-strong workforce and their families.
Mr Marshall said the holiday – for two adults and up to two children – was a genuine gesture to thank his staff after turnover soared to £65million.
“It’s a big thank-you from me to my staff for their phenomenal performance over the last year,” he told the Echo.
“It couldn’t have been done without their enthusiasm and dedication.”

Touching play revisits squelched teen romance

To describe certain situations, one can as easily reach for the word "cliche" as the word "truth." Were it not for playwright Craig Wright's gift for sure-footed, emotionally valid dialogue, that's the choice one would face with his play "The Pavilion," now at the Rattlestick Theater in New York City. As evidence of Wright's skill in writing characters with cross-grained dimensions, he just finished a four-year assignment co-writing many of the scripts for the television series "Six Feet Under." "Pavilion," written in 2000 and one in a series of plays set in the small town of Pine City, Minn., has been

End of a romance that never existed!

It can best be described as the end of a romantic affair that surprisingly never existed in the first place. The gossipmongers created it and now they have laid it to rest. Actress Priyanka Chopra was linked with producer Harry Baweja’s son Harman time and again despite her denial that there was anything more than mere friendship between the two. But people who read more in words than is meant jumped to conclusions and linked Priyanka with Harman. And now, surprisingly, a slew of reports have appeared claiming that Priyanka and Harman have split. “Where was the affair for us to have

Romance and Cigarettes Review

Romance and Cigarettes is a story about just that. The first half of the story deals with Nick Murder (James Gandolfini) and the fact that he's cheating on his wife Kitty (Susan Sarandon) with Tula (Kate Winslet). And why not? Tula is a smokin' hot red-headed woman who's got one of the dirtiest mouths I've ever seen on a woman. The things that she said were pretty wild and risque - and the only thing that ruined it was the fact that she was saying them to a guy like Nick. How the fuck did he land a snatch like
