‘PINOY AKO’ – From the much-anticipated and highly-controversial hit reality TV show “Pinoy Big Brother” now comes the brother of all compilation albums.
Entitled “Pinoy Ako,” this 14-track compilation features an eclectic array of music from some of the top local bands in the Philippines today. To name a few, “Pinoy Ako” includes choice cuts from bands like Sandwich ("Hu-manda Ka"), Session Road ("Gus-to na Kitang Makita"), Barbie’s Cradle ("Pangarap” and “Some-day"), and True Faith ("Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak").
It also contains songs rendered by some of local rock music’s most influential frontmen, such as Rico Blanco of Rivermaya ("Bye Bye Na"), Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar ("This Guy’s in Love with You Pare") and Kevin Roy of Razor-back ("Kailanpa-man"). Kevin Roy also appears in a duet with Cooky Chua of Color it Red for the song “Jam” and Dong Abay of Yano and Pan ap-pears in the song “Laklak,” which is a collaboration with the Philip-pines’ fastest rapper Gloc-9.

India on Thursday announced plans to send a boatload of tourists to view an active volcano as an eruption in the Andaman archipelago gained in intensity.
The tourists will view the volcano on remote Barren Island which is spitting lava, ash and boulders up to a height of 330 feet.
"There are lots of tourists and local residents eager to see the active volcano and a ship is scheduled to sail out Friday for Barren Island," Kuldip Singh of the Andamans' tourism department told AFP by telephone.

An Oceanside family is asking for help in finding a 28-year-old woman who moved to Texas to live with a man she met over the Internet.
Cynthia Razon started on online relationship with 18-year-old Robert Guerrero in December 2004, according to her family. In August, Razon moved in with him in his Sweetwater, Texas home.
Razon called her mother two weeks ago and said the relationship had soured and that she was going to cash more than $1,000 in checks and move back to Oceanside.
That was the last time Razon's family had heard from her.

PHUKET, May 6 (TNA) – The Chamber of Commerce in Thailand's southern resort province of Phuket today announced a raft of plans to revive the island’s struggling tourism industry, including international sporting and beauty contests.
Describing the island’s post-tsunami tourism situation as ‘appalling’, the chamber’s chairman, Mr. Iem Thawornwongwong, said that the chamber was helping local bids to restore visitor numbers.
Included in the chamber’s plans are support for international sporting competitions, and activities relating to the international Miss Universe contest later this month.
Other events include Miss Teen Thailand in October.
