May-December romance

Filed under:

In a similar May-December romance are Sen. Ralph Recto and Lipa City Mayor Vilma Santos. Ralph is in his early 40s, while Ate Vi is in her 50s.

And remember that Nora Aunor who’s a year older than Vilma is (was?) romantically involved with Fil-American rapper John Rendez Porter. By the way, is John in the US with Ate Guy?

Lupita Aquino Kashiwahara is 60-plus. Her husband Ken, of San Francisco TV fame, is 10 years or so younger.

Red hot mamas Elizabeth Oropesa and Alma Moreno are committed to much younger men. Mama Beth who’s in her late 40s (or is she already a golden girl?) is married to a guy in his late 20s, a physical therapist. Mama Alma’s cons-tant companion is bold actor Gerald Madrid, who’s 26. Alma is 46.

May-December romance isn’t unusual

An older man and a much younger woman caught in the glare of a scandal often makes the headlines and shocks the public, but the motivations behind the relationship are an old and oft-told story. The allegations involving Monsignor Eugene Clark, a high-ranking Roman Catholic Church official, and his secretary, Laura DeFilippo, who are caught up in an ugly divorce case filed by the woman's husband, follow a relatively familiar pattern, say observers of the marital scene. "Infidelity between older men and younger women is often charged by power and is based on inequality," said Renee Pepper, a Mount Kisco social worker
