Couples interested in tying the knot in an exotic and romantic location will find a treasure trove of romance-inspired options onboard Windstar Cruises’ fleet of three sailing ships. The 148-passenger Wind Star and Wind Spirit and the 308-passenger Wind Surf sail to romantic destinations in the Caribbean, Tahiti and her islands, and Europe.

It offers a romantic and intimate wedding and vow renewal program as only a small ship can, with individually tailored ceremonies. Picture this: Fresh flowers adorn the aisle and a violinist plays Pachelbel’s Canon in D in the background as you recite the nuptial vows that will hold you together for a lifetime. You can also add a variety of personal touches, such as a fireworks display celebrating your union as the ship sails from Venice – anything is possible. In Romance with USA, Americans Play Hard to Get

An op-ed chart in the morning’s New York Times bore sobering news for President Bush: when compared with previous two term presidents, Bush just isn’t very appealing. Of the last three reelected presidents–Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton–only the scandal-ridden Nixon had a more precipitous decline in second-term support, from 67% to 39%. Bush currently stands at just 44% approval. But the NYT chart contained another juicy piece of information: favorable ratings for Congress have steadily declined over the same 30-year period. They’ve fallen from 79% (in 1973), to 57% (in 1985), to 52% (in 1997), to a current-day

Luis Miguel, who plays the SBC Center on Thursday, is touring behind his ranchera roots album "México en la Piel," from late last year. There is no opening group. "México en la Piel" is a 13-track album that showcases some of the most famous ranchera songs, such as "Un Mundo Raro," "Entrega Total," "De Que Manera Te Olvido" and "Paloma Querida." The CD has the usual Luis Miguel trademarks: classic songs, great vocals, exquisite fidelity and excellent production. The world-renowned Mariachi

Tourism body to oppose GST plan

Queensland's tourism industry is continuing its fight to stop the Federal Government imposing the goods and services tax (GST) on overseas visitors. The industry is trying to stop a bill being passed through the Senate and will be among the groups taking their case to a public hearing in Brisbane next week. Daniel Gschwind from the Queensland Tourism Industry Council says the imposition of the tax could turn people away from Australia. "The demand for a product is always influenced by the price and clearly Australia is a relatively high cost experience for visitors," he said. "We are a long way away from most

High school football games bring romance

Dorma thinks the date started with dinner at Sal's Italian Restaurant next to the old drive-in theater, and Sal came by the table and sang, "That's Amore." But she can't be certain. Ted could have sprung for Burger King. It's been a while since Ted Muncie borrowed his grandfather's 1960 Ford Fairlane and drove Dorma Roberts down to Sarasota High for the opener to the Southeast Seminoles football season. Their first date, Sept. 18, 1964 - 41 years ago Sunday. Happy anniversary, kids. "It's hard to remember the details," Dorma said. "It's been so long." Dorma remembers this: In study hall a few days earlier she leaned

Malaysian golfers help drive Phuket tourism

PHUKET, May 8, (TNA) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is teaming up with leading tour operators to attract Malaysian golf enthusiasts to the resort island of Phuket, where tourism has been flagging since the December tsunami. Driven by the need to revive the island’s tourism fortunes, the TAT’s Kuala Lumpur office joined hands with Benoa Tourplan to lead a delegation of Malaysian golfers to take part in a Phuket-based tournament last week. Known for its high purchasing power, the golfing market is a niche market which the TAT is particularly keen to attract, particularly as golfers generally bring their families
