Zombies, commies and romance, oh my!
Between the zombies and the commies there’s a lot going on in Milwaukee as the Missouri Valley College theater department presents “Zombies from the Beyond” by James Valcq.
The musical comedy opens Wednesday, with performances to run through Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Eckilson-Mabee Theatre.
Valcq’s nostalgic look back at the Eisenhower era examines the Cold War and the space race through songs, dances and laughs inspired by the creature feature movies popular at the time.
In 1955, the Milwaukee Space Center is abuzz at the arrival of rocket scientist Trenton Corbett. A budding romance between Trenton and Mary, the daughter of Major Malone, the space center’s commander, is interrupted by the arrival of a flying saucer.
