Hatfield-born Fred served three years in the Royal Navy Patrol Service during World War Two, and worked for 50 years at Hatfield’s British Aerospace.
Nowadays Fred, 85, likes watching sport on TV - and particularly enjoyed England’s Ashes triumph.
Phylis, 80, who used to work at the old Nivea factory in Hatfield, now enjoys a spot of knitting.
When asked the key to a successful marriage, Fred said: “It’s all about looking after one another and getting through the hard times.
