A trip around the world of romance reveals some weird trends
“Dating Web site dumps serial shagger”
“German court OKs flirting at work”
“Polygamous leader dies on Valentine’s Day”
As you can tell from these headlines, it has been a busy few months in the world of dating and relationships. So, just in case you’ve been following things going on in the world that actually matter, your trusty dating columnist is here to fill you in on the latest dating news.
Our report starts in Britain, where the BBC reports Clive Worth, 55, was banned from online dating site DatingDirect.com for “lacking commitment.”
It turns out Clive overcame the sheer dorkiness of his first name and dated almost 200 women he met online. He also claims he slept with most of them.
“Mick Jagger’s got nothing on me,” a modest Clive said.
Clive claims to have three little black books — guys still have little black books?! — filled with e-mail addresses, but don’t read my mind and call him a snake. “It’s just that I haven’t met the right woman yet,” he said.
Clive might want to start looking for women in Germany, where it appears hitting on women is most welcome. In June, according to Reuters, a German court upheld the workers’ “right” to flirt at work.
The ruling stems from a suit related to the German Wal-Mart’s code of conduct on employee’s love lives. The code forbids “sexual communication” between employees. ("Sexual communication” sounds dirty, but it’s just lawyer talk for “You look good in those jeans.")
