A real office romance!

Filed under:

ROMANTIC Richard Sandon will wed the woman of his dreams in a paradise ceremony on sun-drenched Barbados after popping the question in front of hundreds of colleagues.
Richard (42) finally plucked up the courage to propose to Sarah Lewis (26) when his bosses at Thomas Cook Signature staged a wedding themed day.

Dressed in a bridegroom outfit, the lovey-dovey atmosphere got the better of Richard and he went down on bended knee.

He took to the stage at the launch of the company’s new weddings brochure at their headquarters in Conningsby Road, Bretton, Peterborough.

Richard said: “I’ve been married before and had always said I would never get married again, but we have got such a strong relationship that I changed my mind.

“I was really worried about having to do it in front of so many people we work with, but she said yes.

“There were tears and embarrassment and I think she was overwhelmed that I had done it in front of everyone.”

The couple, who live together in Sleaford, will tie the knot in Barbados next Spring.

Sarah said she had no idea what was going to happen when Richard took to the stage.

She said: “I had no idea he was going to do it. I saw him taking the microphone and I thought “what’s he going to do?” then he went down on one knee.

“He’s such a romantic. He’s beautiful. There were a few tears from my friends, and I cried as well.

“My team manager was handing me tissues. It was amazing.

“Thomas Cook got us a bottle of champagne, so we’ll be drinking that.

“I’m still in shock, but it’s a very good shock.

“He’s very romantic. He’s always surprising me.

“We definitely have a happy future ahead of us. I love him to pieces.”

Most workers ’have office romance’

IT seems office types spend as much time wooing colleagues as working. Research reveals about 70 per cent of workers have had an office romance. A third of these were involved with a colleague who is married or in a long-term relationship. And the losers of such love matches are nearly always the ladies. Researcher Geoff Carter, a Griffith University management lecturer, said women who have flings with married colleagues "usually get burned". Dr Carter, who surveyed 400 managers in NSW and Queensland, discovered those aged 18-30 were most likely to have successful, appropriate romances with workmates. Source: news.com.au

Bipolars and Internet Romance

People are drawn to cyber-romances for the same reasons they are drawn to face-to-face romances - either they don't have a "real-life" love relationship, or there is something missing in their "real-life" love relationship. On the internet, they may indeed find what they are missing. Or, because of the partial anonymity of cyberspace - which allows lots of room for fantasy and imagination - they may only THINK they have found what they are missing. The "exotic" and/or "magical" quality of a cyber-romances might be one factor that attracts some people. The lover's presence enters your home (or office) without the

How to Keep that Office Romance Alive - and Secret

An unscientific survey suggests that as many as 87 percent of working people have felt attracted to a coworker. The survey of 332 single male and female office workers by matchmaking business DUO had 87.3 percent of respondents admitting they at some stage felt drawn to coworker of the opposite sex. Don’t get swept away by romance in the office

U.S. workers spend more time on the job these days than ever. And with nearly 20 percent more single people in the workplace now than 10 years ago, many people are starting to turn their frown on office romance upside-down. Still, there are rules to follow, so if you are thinking about beginning a relationship with someone at work, keep these in mind: Dating your subordinate or your boss is never a wise idea. Not only could you possibly involve yourself in a sexual-harassment suit, but you can also sabotage your career. Romancing your boss most often looks like you're just trying
