Tour De Romance

“We’ll start at the store in Kanata and go downtown,” says Eric Kunstadt, owner of Kunstadt Sports, suggesting a biking date.

50 First Dates takes a light-hearted look at the world of dating by describing “first dates” with interesting, eligible men. These aren’t real dates, but fun encounters that offer a bit of a profile of some of the men out there and a glimpse into a variety of dating experiences.

“Oh, downtown Kanata. How far is that?”

“Umm. Downtown Ottawa.”

“Okay. You may be Lance Armstrong, but I’m NO Sheryl Crow.” “We’ll take a tandem bike,” he suggests.

Now that sounded workable. If I get tired, he could do the work. Kunstadt Sports’ two locations – Bank St. South and Hazeldean Rd. in Kanata – sell mostly bike, tennis and hockey equipment, and they rent bikes including this tandem for $30 a day.

My Chemical Romance

Back in the day, New Joisey's My Chemical Romance was a scrawny little quintet singing about vampires and opening for the Movielife and Finch. Of course, "the day" refers to its early 2003 tour -- before MCR upgraded from Eyeball Records to the major label Reprise Records, before its sophomore CD, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, sold gold and before vocalist Gerard Way stopped speaking to his former BFF, the Used singer Bert McCracken. In fact, My Chemical Romance v.2.0 is bigger, badder, and more emo and goth (although less intoxicated) than its former self. But catch its first headlining

A night of ranchera, romance

"México en la Piel" is a 13-track album that showcases some of the most famous ranchera songs, such as "Un Mundo Raro," "Entrega Total," "De Que Manera Te Olvido" and "Paloma Querida." Water gardens make relaxing getaway

Cindy Aldrich of 10460 N.W. 107th Ave. in Granger spends a lot of time on her backyard deck. She likes to relax with her husband as they listen to the water falling over rocks into their pond. "They just seem so relaxing to hear that sound of the water all the time," Aldrich said. The pond is filled with koi and goldfish, with more appearing each year. Some of the plants in and around the water include cannas, taros and lilies. Aldrich is a member of the Central Iowa Water Garden Association. Her pond will be included in the association's tour Sunday. Admission
